A Quebec-based manufacturer of vertical access equipment has agreed to be bought by a U.S. competitor that provides scaffolding and other related services for industrial, commercial and infrastructure projects worldwide.

BrandSafway, headquartered in Kennesaw, Ga., said Jan. 9 it has reached an agreement to purchase AGF Access Group Inc.

The Quebec company has two manufacturing facilities in Canada, 24 branches across North America and is based in L’Assomption on the outskirts of Montreal. Along with manufacturing vertical access equipment, such as mobile mast climbers, AGF rents and sells the equipment through an independent dealer network.

“This is an exciting opportunity for us to partner with a leader in motorized access equipment, enabling us to grow our market presence in mast climbing, suspended access solutions, elevators and building maintenance units throughout North America,” said Dave Witsken, president of Energy and Industrial at BrandSafway, in a release.

AGF operates four main units, including its prominent Hydro Mobile and Winsafe brands.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, though BrandSafway said the acquisition is expected to close in early 2020.
