OTTAWA—The Break and Enter Unit of the Ottawa Police Service has charged a 38-year-old man after a string of alleged thefts on Ottawa construction sites and hydro compounds.

The man appeared in court April 28 and is charged with nine counts of break and enter, as well as two counts of theft under $5,000.

Police said tools, trailers and machinery were taken in the alleged robberies. The items are worth more than $45,000 combined.

Thefts are a growing issue on job sites, where valuable tools and machinery are often left unattended overnight.
