CannonDesign Ltd. has been selected to lead the planning, design and compliance aspects of the Toronto East General Hospital (TEGH) new patient care tower project in Toronto.
The project involves the creation of a new eight-storey tower along with a three-storey addition for housing more services. The new patient care tower will add approximately 380,000 sq.-ft. of space, including an underground parking lot by 2023.
The project is expected to achieve a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification for design excellence and sustainability. Led by CannonDesign Ltd., the planning, design and compliance (PDC) team will establish the guidelines and performance requirements that the successful building team must meet when preparing its designs.
The PDC team will also monitor construction progress and provide coordination and oversight during the commissioning and completion of the project.
Toronto East General Hospital and Infrastructure Ontario will issue a request for qualifications for the design, construction and financing of the project, using the Alternative Financing and Procurement model.
