In events held simultaneously in Denver, CO and Edmonton, Alta., the PCL family of companies announced partnerships with the American and Canadian Red Cross on Feb. 9.

PCL has offered $600,000 worth of disaster relief services in Canada and the United States over the next three years.
The donations will be divided into three annual donations of $100,000 for both Red Cross organizations.

“As construction leaders, we understand the importance of planning ahead and we believe this funding will provide both agencies with a proactive funding arrangement that will allow them to have supplies in place prior to an emergency or disaster situation,” said Paul Douglas, president and CEO the PCL family of companies.

Each $100,000 donation, allows the Red Cross to shelter, feed, and care for 150 families for four to five days.

“While we can’t control disasters and emergencies – whether it’s an earthquake like the one that hit Haiti in 2010, or a condo fire like the one we saw displace families in Edmonton last month – we can take steps to ensure that we are prepared to deal with them when they take place,” Douglas said.
