
Oshawa, Ont. construction worker pinned down in trench rescued by firefighters

Construction Health & SafetyOSHAWA, Ont.—A construction worker pinned down by heavy machinery on a construction site in the Toronto suburbs was rescued by firefighters after a major operation June 19.
Oshawa Fire Services said its technical rescue team responded to the incident on Verdun Avenue early Tuesday morning, eventually managing to extricate the worker who had been trapped in a trench by heavy machinery. The rescue operation took approximately two hours.

The man sustained critical injuries and was transported from the scene by air ambulance, according to Durham Regional Police.
The Ministry of Labour was notified and will investigate the incident.
