The Ontario Hot Mix Producers Association handed out $950 in gas cards during its #ONGreatRoads photo contest from Victoria Day weekend to July 14.

OHMPA awarded one grand prize winner with a $500 Shell gas card and six weekly winners (randomly drawn) with $75 Shell gas cards. OHMPA received a total of 36 entries from all regions of Ontario.

The grand prize winner, Tony Catojo of Chelmsford, Ont., captured an image of three black bears crossing the road off of Highway 144 on the way to Windy Lake in Northern Ontario.

The weekly winners were Gayle Bellemar of Barrie, Ont., Caroline McClure of Brantford, Ont., Todd Hochman of Winnipeg, Man., Amma Wakefield of Gormely, Ont., Valerie Gipson of Orleans, Ont., and Manuel Vizcaya of Kitchener, Ont.

“As an association, our goal is to promote excellence in asphalt pavement and through this contest we got to see that excellence through the public’s eyes,” said Doug Duke, OHMPA’s executive director. “We hope to continue and expand this contest in the coming year.”
