ConstructionCatherine McKenna, Canada’s minister of Infrastructure and Communities, joined by representatives from the province and town, announced funding Nov. 12 for a new transit operations facility in Milton, Ont.
The public transit project will cost $46.1 million, with the bulk of those funds coming from the town.
Still in the relatively early stages of design and site selection, the facility is expected to include space for 36 vehicles, as well as service and maintenance areas. It is designed to improve the town’s ability to house and maintain its growing fleet.
Milton will spend $39 million on the project over several years, while Ottawa and Queen’s Park have committed $3.9 million and $3.2 million, respectively.
