Canada’s top skilled trades and technology students and apprentices will take centre stage next week at The International Centre in Mississauga, Ont. for the 20th Skills Canada National Competition (SCNC).

More than 500 participants will compete in 42 separate competitions across six different sectors: construction, services, manufacturing, transportation, information technology and employability. Medal winners will have a chance to form the WorldSkills Team Canada 2015 and travel to the 43rd WorldSkills Competition in São Paulo, Brazil.

In addition to the competitions, SCNC will offer visitors the opportunity to participate in more than 40 Try-A-Trade and Technology activities. There will also be interactive demonstrations on the Essential Skills Stage, over 70 exhibitors in the Career Zone and many networking opportunities with industry leaders.

Special guests include Minister Jason Kenney, HGTV’s Bryan Baeumler and Paul Lafrance, and former MasterChef Canada contestant Julie Miguel.

SCNC runs from June 4 to 7. Admission is free on June 5 and 6. Tickets are available for the opening and closing ceremonies and other VIP events. For more information and to purchase tickets visit www.skillscanada.com.
