Membership fees set for College of Trades

The Ontario College of Trades (OCOT) has set its membership fees for 2013.

The annual membership fees are broken down as follows: 

Apprenticeship Class – $60
Journeyperson Candidates Class – $60
Tradespersons Class – $60
Journeypersons Class – $120
Employers/Sponsors Class – $120 (for optional membership applications)

All apprentices and tradesperons and journeypersons working in compulsory trades will be required to pay annual fees to the OCOT. The college is expected to open its doors in the spring of 2013.

Any skilled tradesperson that holds more than one certificate of qualification, or statement of membership, will pay only one annual fee. The OCOT has stated that failure to pay membership fees could result in the suspension of a member’s certificate of qualification or statement of membership.

The OCOT have also set up the following transactional fees:

Certificate of Qualification Examination – $150
Reinstatement (due to non-payment) – $60/$120 (same as membership class fee)
Replacement of Membership Credentials – $25
