Lafarge adds new packaged cement to the mix

Lafarge Canada Inc. has introduced three new additions to its packaged cement offerings in eastern Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada.

Lafarge is now selling 20-kilogram contempra, 20-kilogram high early cement and 30-kilogram silica fume cement bags in building supply outlets in all three markets.

Lafarge’s decision to switch from 40 to 20-kilogram cement bags was based on safety reasons observed by the Canadian Center for Occupational Health and Safety, who recommends 23 kilograms is the most an individual should lift on a regular basis.

Using contempra cement in manufacturing is designed to decrease carbon dioxide emissions by 10 per cent without losing the strength and durability as concrete produced with Portland cement.
