The 4th International Holcim Awards will see $2 million in prize money dished out for projects and visions that contribute to a sustainable global environment.

Organized by Swiss-based Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction, the competition is held in five regions worldwide in 2013-14, followed by a global contest in 2015.

The main category of awards is open to architects, planners, engineers, project owners, builders and construction firms who demonstrate contemporary construction solutions to technological, environmental, socioeconomic and cultural issues.

The competition is also looking for cutting-edge and visionary ideas from the “next generation” of builders—students and young professionals between 18-30.

Construction of projects in both categories can not start before July 1, 2013.

Regional winners will be announced at Holcim Awards ceremonies in late 2014 in Moscow (for region Europe), Toronto (North America), Medellín (Latin America), Beirut (Africa Middle East) and Jakarta (Asia Pacific).
