Graham continues to be Canada’s leader in integrated project delivery (IPD), recently winning its fourth IPD project, and second with the Town of Oakville – the Southeast Community Centre.

The new facility will be built on the 14 acre site of the former Oakville hospital. Scope of work on this project includes the design and construction of a LEED Silver certified community centre and associated site amenities along with renovations to the existing 15,790 m2 (170,000 sq. ft.), four-storey parking garage. The proposed design for the community centre includes a 25 m (82 ft.) six-lane lap pool, therapy pool, double gymnasium, running track and miscellaneous program and multi-use space. The project team is also responsible for demolishing the hospital and office building which currently reside on site.

The project team is currently working with architects to finalize the design of the facility, which is adjacent to the Trafalgar Road Heritage Conservation District – an area with many historic homes. Care and sensitivity must be taken with the design to ensure that the development is compatible with the heritage district. Based on the final design of the community centre, the project team will also assist the town in determining different uses for the remaining area.

The project is scheduled for completion in June 2020.
