OTTAWA—Infrastructure Ontario has picked EllisDon Corp. as the preferred proponent to build a new health care facility just outside Ottawa.
The crown agency said June 26 it’s selected EllisDon Infrastructure Healthcare from a shortlist of five companies that advanced to the request for proposals (RFP) stage on the Orleans Health Hub Project. Infrastructure Ontario and the Canadian contractor will work to finalize the deal in the comping weeks, with financial close expected this summer.
The institutional project centres on the construction of a new 96,000 sq. ft. building at the corner of Mer-Bleue Road and Brian Coburn Boulevard in Orleans, Ont. The facility, which will bundle a number of health services under one roof, includes Hôpital Montfort as the key partner.
Hôpital Montfort notes on its website that the Ontario government has set aside approximately $60 million for the project. Full details about the health hub’s cost and timeline will be available at financial close.
Work on the project is scheduled to begin once the contract is finalized.
Update:
Infrastructure Ontario released the official contract details Aug. 6. The project will cost $59.7 million to build and employ about 200 workers on-site. Spring 2021 is the scheduled completion date.
