Devimco Immobilier has a green light from Longueuil, Que. — across the river from Montreal — for a new mixed-use, four-tower project in the city’s downtown.

Longueuil city council approved the 1.2 million sq. ft. development May 26 after Devimco had officially unveiled the project a week earlier.

The Quebec-based developer has pitched the yet-to-be-named project as a transit-oriented development. With the pandemic-driven trend toward working from home, the company also said the project’s approximately 1,200 housing units will be geared toward teleworking. The site includes four 22-storey towers, two of which will include rental units and the other two condos.

The development also incorporates the Longueuil–Université-de-Sherbrooke métro station — at the south end of Montreal’s Yellow Line. Devimco said the new real estate project will go up above and around the existing subway station.

Construction could start by the end of next year and run until 2027, according to a May 26 release from the City of Longueuil.
