Gross domestic product for the construction sector dropped 0.2 per cent in May, when compared to the previous month.
The decline was due to a decrease in residential building and non-residential building construction (to a lesser degree), which more than offset gains in engineering and construction work.
Year-over-year construction GDP was up 3.5 per cent from May 2011 to May 2012.
Canada’s overall GDP for May 2012 was up 0.1 per cent, following a 0.3-per cent increase in April.
