EDMONTON—Chandos Construction Ltd. has promoted two internal executives to top ranks within the company as it looks to expand its business across Canada.

The Alberta-based contractor said Tim Coldwell, who has spent nearly 20 years with the company, will take over as president of Chandos. Coldwell got his start at the company’s Edmonton office and most recently served as a vice-president. He will take over as president from Tom Redl, who has headed the company for years as both president and CEO. Redl will continue as Chandos’ CEO.

Meanwhile, Sean Penn, who started as a carpenter with the contractor nearly 20 years ago, has been promoted to COO, effective immediately. Penn has progressed through several management positions with Chandos over the years, also most recently serving as a vice-president.

Redl said the company continues to scale up its operations, largely thanks to its expansions into the Ontario and B.C. markets. The company now employs approximately 400 workers across offices in Edmonton, Calgary and Red Deer, Alta., as well as in Toronto and Vancouver.

“At no time have I seen more potential for us at Chandos than I do right now,” he said. “The opportunities before us are many and significant; I am both eager and excited to see what the next few years will bring.”
