6 Canadian firms among list of North American finalists for company’s 2022 Gypsum Trophy Awards.

Three Canadian companies will join three American companies from the finalists for the North American CertainTeed Gypsum Trophy Awards as finalists for the 13th Saint-Gobain Gypsum International Trophy Awards, set to be presented in Athens, Greece in April.

The CertainTeed awards, which will be presented in November, recognize drywall design, installation, sustainability and craftsmanship of contractors from across North America.

“While this marks only the sixth Trophy Award for CertainTeed, the pause we had to take during the pandemic made us realize how quickly this has become a luminary moment in our industry,” stated Hanan Girgis, CertainTeed’s director of marketing for its Interior Products Group in Canada. “Even in a season where labour shortages compound challenges from timelines, budgets, and outside-the-box design requests, this year’s finalists embody the incredible artisanship made possible with both our gypsum products, and other solutions from the full Saint-Gobain portfolio.”

The competition, which is traditionally hosted every two years, assesses drywall and finishing contractors in Canada and the U.S. for their design skills with gypsum, spanning various categories such as creativity, innovation and sustainability.

“As we prepare for the North American trophy awards, we’re honoured to celebrate our finalists and recognize their accomplishments,” stated Girgis. “We’re confident each project, which showcases the diverse and creative ways drywall can be used as structural and design components, will inspire the same creativity amongst their fellow contractors.”

A subsidiary of Saint-Gobain, one of the world’s largest building products companies, CertainTeed has more than 6,900 employees and more than 60 manufacturing facilities throughout Canada and the United States.
