As the use and implementation of building information modelling (BIM) continues to grow across Canada, buildingSMART Canada, a council of the Institute for BIM in Canada (IBC), has launched a new website to provide accessible and pertinent information on the council’s activities nationally and abroad.

The website, available at www.buildingsmartcanada.ca, will help promote the development of Canadian BIM Standards, as well as the implementation of BIM at a pace that allows industry to achieve improvements in project delivery and lifecycle management of the built environment.

“The establishment of buildingSMART Canada as the Canadian chapter of buildingSMART International has laid the groundwork for the sharing of ideas and best practices,” said Dave Pelletier, chair of the Institute for BIM in Canada. “This new website will showcase some of the work being done by the chapter, while providing a great source of information for those seeking more information on Open BIM standards and BIM implementation.”

In addition to providing accessible information about open standards for BIM, the new website will also host resources, including term, software application lists, reports, guidelines and BIM strategies, as well as case studies on a number of projects where BIM was utilized.
