
Builders’ Fest to showcase construction industry to youth

Construction Skills DevelopmentBuilders’ Fest 2014 promises to be big and better than ever before, providing ample opportunity for families and professionals to discover the world of construction and its related sectors.
The event, which aims to interest younger generations in the construction industry, has been running every year since 2009 under the name “Builder For A Day.” This year it has grown to become Builders’ Fest and more than 10,000 people are expected to attend.
At Builders’ Fest, all attendees with have the opportunity to try out heavy equipment, attend trade workshops, visit industry booths and participate in extreme challenges.
In addition, there are three challenges for professionals: bricklaying, operating and scaffolding, with $2,000 up for grabs per competition. The bricklaying challenge will also hand out a trip to Las Vegas.
Builders’ Fest is taking place from June 13 to 15 in the parking lot of the Hilton Lac-Leamy in Gatineau, Que. Entry is free for children and students under 17, and $10 for adults.
