Amazon Canada has announced plans to open what will be its first fulfillment centre in Quebec.

The U.S. online retail giant revealed few details about the new facility, but said it will be located in Lachine — a borough at the southern end of the island of Montreal.

“We’re excited about our growth in Montreal, which gives us the opportunity to better serve our customers across Quebec,” Alexandre Gagnon, vice-president of Amazon Canada, said in a release.

Like other warehousing facilities in the company’s massive network, workers will prepare shipments for delivery at the site. It will create 300 full-time jobs once complete. Amazon already has more than a dozen fulfillment centres across Alberta, B.C. and Ontario.

The new facility is scheduled to open in late 2020.
