645 construction training spots available to those in Northern Ontario

The Ontario government says it will invest more than $1 million to provide free training in construction in northern Ontario.

The province says it will prioritize 645 spots for Indigenous communities for in-demand jobs.

Two projects will prepare trainees for a variety of jobs including heavy equipment operation and electrical trades.

Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development Monte McNaughton says there are thousands of jobs in the resource sector waiting to be filled.
