Lafarge buys Alberta aggregates producer Mixcor

Lafarge Canada Inc. is expanding its reach in the Alberta aggregates market with the acquisition of Mixcor Aggregates Inc.

The company announced the deal that will add 26 aggregate sites Oct. 29. The building materials firm also said 50 employees from Mixcor will join its workforce, which totals roughly 2,000 across Alberta.

“We look forward to welcoming these new employees to our team,” said Brad Kohl, president and CEO of Lafarge Western Canada, in a release. “We know they’re aligned with our culture of health and safety and that they share our vision to accelerate green construction.”

Lafarge did not disclose the financial terms of the deal.
