VANCOUVER—After about two years of pre-construction, demolition and excavation work, crews at the site of a future 43-storey tower in Vancouver’s west end are inching their way upward.

More than 100 workers from Graham Group Ltd. spent 14 hours earlier this month placing 2,070 cubic metres of concrete for a core footing at 1568 Alberni St. Pouring the 3.6-metre deep footing involved three boom pumps managing concrete deliveries from four separate batch plants.

Graham won the approximately $167 million contract to take on the project in 2017 with early work beginning that summer. The designers are aiming for a LEED Gold certification on the project.

The new residential tower will eventually contain 181 luxury units.
