BridgesPriestly Demolition Inc. had just under a dozen hours last weekend to safely do away with an overpass extending over six lanes of Highway 401 in Puslinch, Ont.
The Ontario Ministry of Transportation closed the busy thoroughfare overnight, giving crews about 10 hours to demolish the Concession 7 Road bridge, just south of Guelph.
Priestly fielded seven excavators and a pair of wheel loaders for the job, which involved removing about 2,000 tonnes of concrete.
The demolition work is part of a wider project to realign Highway 6 around Morriston, Ont. and widen Hwy. 401 to 10 lanes through the area.
