SNC-Lavalin wins golden contract in Quebec

SNC-Lavalin has won a contract for work on the Éléonore gold project in the James Bay region of northeastern Quebec.
The Montreal-based engineering firm will provide project management, detailed engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) services, including: the engineering and design of the mineral processing plant; all plant infrastructure; tailings management facilities; a permanent camp; service buildings and facilities; and an industrial water treatment plant.

The mineral processing plant is expected to process 7,000 tonnes of ore on a daily basis.

The contract was awarded by Opinaca Mines Ltd., owned by Goldcorp Inc.

The Éléonore mine is located 350 km north of Matagami, Que. and east of the Opinaca reservoir.

Engineering work has already begun at SNC-Lavalin’s offices in Montreal, Vnacouver and Quebec City.

Construction on the project has started and is expected to be complete by the end of the third quarter of 2014.
