Giatec Scientific has found a concrete solution for bringing its portable concrete analyzer to market. The Ottawa-based structural integrity technology company recently received $150,000 from the Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE), awarded through OCE’s Market Readiness program. The money will be used to continue developing the iCOR hand-held device, designed to detect the future rate of deterioration in sections of concrete structures before they occur.

The company also received a $50,000 loan for assisting in the commercializing of Giatec products through the Centre for the Commercialization of Research (CCR) Embedded Executive program.
The company’s technologies are currently being used in the forensic examination of the Algo Centre Mall roof collapse in Elliott Lake, Ont.
