Construction Demolition Financing Roads

The second phase of the Port Hope Project recently began, with the construction of the $22-million Water Treatment Plant construction contract underway. The contract, which includes site clearing and road upgrades, was awarded to Mississauga, Ont.-based Kenaidan Contracting Ltd.

The water treatment plant construction contract is one of several multi-million dollar contracts for the Port Hope Project, created for the cleanup and safe long-term management of approximately 1.4 million cu. m. of historic low-level radioactive waste throughout Port Hope.

A contract launch event was held on Nov. 30 with MP Rick Norlock (Northhumberland – Quinte West) and Port Hope deputy mayor Jeff Gilmer in attendance as guest speakers.

The water treatment plant is expected to take approximately two years to complete.
