Construction Association opens up CANSnet for trial

Nova Scotia’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal is participating in a pilot project to introduce a new online bidding system for trade contractors developed and managed by the Construction Association of Nova Scotia (CANS).

The online bidding system is a tool used for trade contractors to submit bids to general contractors electronically through the CANSnet system. The goal is to streamline the bidding process while improving access, efficiency and transparency.

This pilot project will target three trades; electrical, mechanical and fire suppression and is open to both CANS members and non-members. Although general contractors will be required to show their intention to bid through the CANS Online Bidding System for trade contractors, they must submit their bid in the usual manner as set out in the tender documents.

In preparation for this project, free training sessions will be available for interested users. These sessions will provide attendees with a basic knowledge of the system’s components and how to use them to bid projects.
