EllisDon Ledcor PAAV Inc hand over $514M Pan Am Games village

The CIBC Pan Am/Parapan Am Athletes’ Village has been turned over to games’ organizers, five months ahead of the hotly anticipated multi-sport event being hosted in the Greater Toronto Area.

Built by EllisDon Ledcor PAAV Inc. — part of the Dundee Kilmer Developments consortium selected by Infrastructure Ontario — this staggering project included the construction of seven new mid-rise buildings on the 35-acre West Don Lands site. The $514 million development will accommodate 10,000 athletes, coaches, and officials from 41 competing nations July 10^–August 15.

Following the Games, the area will be transformed into the mixed-use Canary District Community, a vibrant new neighbourhood that will boast market condos and townhomes, affordable rental housing, retail space, the Cooper Koo Family YMCA, and George Brown College’s first student residence.

Apart from meeting the design requirements of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), this village was built to meet LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certification standards, and is strategically positioned steps from the Distillery District, and approximately 25 minutes from Toronto Pearson International Airport.
