Average weekly earnings down in September

According to a recent Statistics Canada report, average weekly earnings from employees within the construction sector fell 0.5 per cent in September when compared to the previous month.

Construction sector employees had average weekly earnings of  $1,143.82 in September, compared to $1,149.52 in August. Over the 12-month period from September 2011 to September 2012, construction sector employees’ average weekly earnings increased 3.1 per cent ($1,109.33 to $$1,143.82). 

Overall average weekly earnings for non-farm payroll employees in Canada fell 0.5 per cent in September to $902.29, when compared to August 2012; but were up 3.4 per cent over the 12-month period.
