Maystar General Contractors Inc. have completed the Phase 2B construction of a renovation and expansion project for the Kitchener Public Library.

The $40 million project added 25,000 sq. ft. of space and transformed Kitchener’s old Main Library into a spacious new Central Library targeted for LEED silver certification.

As part of the project, Maystar built a 412-space, three-level, underground parking garage and renovated all three floors of the existing library with upgraded mechanical, electrical and HVAC systems.

Library staff has begun occupying Phase 2B of the addition and are currently setting up all book shelving and furniture. The intention is to open to the public by the end of May 2014.
