The Vancouver Regional Construction Association has scooped up the Community Excellence Award for small business at Better Business Bureau’s annual Torch Awards.

The Torch Awards celebrate companies that make strides in advancing ethics and trust in the marketplace, and build awareness amongst consumers and the business community about the importance of ethical business practices.

The Vancouver Regional Construction Association (VRCA) was awarded the Community Excellence award for small business, beating two others in their category. The award recognizes businesses who blend financial success with a strong commitment to positive community impact, and who have gross sales below five million dollars.

Stephan Blank, senior estimator at Kinetic Construction Ltd. and the VRCA’s U40 Network chairperson accepted the award on behalf of the association. “The Torch Awards are respected across the Lower Mainland’s diverse business community. Receiving a Torch Award is therefore a wonderful accolade,” said Fiona Famulak, president of the VRCA. “Both the VRCA and its individual members are passionate about supporting our communities as well as the need to continue to promote fair, open, transparent and ethical business practices across our industry.”

Danielle Primrose, president and CEO of BBB serving the Mainland said, “We have so many great businesses in BC who operate with integrity that it’s difficult to pick just one winner for each of the Torch awards. We had a small army of judges pouring over dozens of applications.”
