The New Year has already brought good tidings and potential joy to a few construction companies hoping to cash in on the construction projects planned for the Toronto 2015 Pan/Parapan American Games.

PCL Constructors Canada Inc., EllisDon Corporation and Bondfield Construction Company Limited were shortlisted and offered a chance to respond to the request for proposals (RFP) for the project, which will see three new venues built in the Greater Toronto Area for the Games.

The shortlist comes after companies submitted requests for qualifications (RFQ) over the past few months that were evaluated by Infrastructure Ontario.

The announcement was made by Infrastructure Ontario and TO2015.

The RFP will be issued in February 2012.

The project will include the construction of a Markham pool and field house for hosting the water polo and badminton competition; renovations and improvements to the Etobicoke Olympium facility for swimming, water polo, diving and synchronized swimming and training; and the construction of a two-field Pan American field hockey centre that will be built on University of Toronto lands.

The construction project is a joint venture between the Province of Ontario and the Government of Canada, in partnership with the Town of Markham, City of Toronto and the University of Toronto.

The Toronto 2015 Pan American Games will take place from July 10 to 26, 2015 and the Parapan American Games are scheduled for Aug. 7 to 14, 2015.
