Ontario is investing in a new facility at Seneca’s King Campus that will help prepare students for the jobs of today and tomorrow, with new classrooms, state-of-the-art labs, a library, a learning centre and more study spaces.
Deb Matthews, Minister of Advanced Education and Skills Development, was joined by Oak Ridges–Markham MPP Helena Jaczek at Seneca’s King Campus to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new facility.

“The new King Campus at Seneca College will provide students with a state-of-the-art facility where they can develop the skills required for the jobs of today and tomorrow. I’m thrilled that our government recognizes that postsecondary infrastructure investment is critical to building up our province’s highly-skilled workforce, creating jobs and growing our economy,” said Matthews.
The 200,000-sq.-ft. expansion will provide more space for students to learn and help Seneca expand its training facilities to support a range of programs, such as its diverse primary health care programs. More classrooms and labs will allow new courses to be offered at the King Campus to better meet the evolving needs of industry and families in York Region.

“This expansion means that more students in York Region and across the province will have access to higher education in a state-of-the-art facility in beautiful King City. I’m proud that our government is supporting a project that will see a total of 5,000 students access postsecondary education,” said Jaczek.
Ontario is making the largest investment in public infrastructure in the province’s history — about $160 billion over 12 years, which is supporting 110,000 jobs every year across the province, with projects such as hospitals, schools, roads, bridges and transit. - Ontario contributed $59 million to build the new facility which is scheduled to be ready for classes in the fall of 2018.
- Seneca’s King Campus is home to about 3,500 full-time students. Once the new facility is complete, the campus will accommodate 5,000 full-time students.
