The Ontario Hot Mix Producers Association (OHMPA) recently held the 40th anniversary edition of its annual Fall Asphalt Seminar in Niagara Falls, Ont.

Road-building and asphalt industry leaders gave presentations on cutting-edge research and innovation to more than 400 seminar delegates at the Scotiabank Centre.

During the day’s presentations, the OHMPA handed out awards to the industry’s brightest and best. In 2002, OHMPA created the Trillium Award, which recognizes asphalt plants that go above and beyond the standards required by industry regulations.

Trillium Award applicants complete a rigorous assessment process to meet high standards in seven categories: appearance, operations, environmental, safety, permitting and compliance, community relations and industry participation.

  • The Miller Group – Timmins Batch Plant
  • The Miller Group – Mosport Drum Plant
  • The Miller Group – North Bay (NFN) Plant
  • The Miller Group – CMI 150 Drum Plant
  • The Miller Group – Pave-Al Drum Plant

In 2013, OHMPA began handing out its Bleeds Black Award to an industry leader for their commitment to the continual improvement of asphalt. Two individuals were presented the award this year: Fernando Magisano of K.J. Beamish Construction Ltd. and John Emery of John Emery Geotechnical Engineering Ltd.
