PAR-BronzeH.J. O’Connell Construction (HJOC), a Bird company, has been designated bronze level certification by the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCAB) in its Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR) Program.

The PAR program provides a high level of assurance through the independent, third-party verification of company reports on measurable outcomes and initiatives in four performance areas: employment, business development, community investment and community engagement. These verified reports are then reviewed by an independent jury of Aboriginal business people that assign the final certification level.

HJOC has been commended by the PAR jury for its participation and commitment in the Aboriginal community and believes the company is a best-practices organization in the field of Aboriginal relationships. CCAB president and CEO JP Gladu said, “Congratulations to this year’s PAR Program Certified companies who have demonstrated that they value the importance of positive relationships and partnerships with Aboriginal communities and businesses. When Aboriginal peoples see the PAR logo, they know that these companies are good business partners, great places to work, and are committed to prosperity in Aboriginal communities.”

HJOC will be formally recognized and receive its award on stage at the 14th Annual Vancouver Gala on September 22, 2016.
