The City of Regina has chosen EPCOR Saskatchewan Water Partners as the preferred proponent to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the City’s new sewage treatment plant.

The EPCOR Saskatchewan Water Partners team includes: EPCOR Water Services Inc., Graham Infrastructure, Lockerbie Stanley Inc./AECON, Stantec, and Gracorp Capital Advisors.

The plant has been approved for up to $58.5 million in federal funding through the P3 Canada Fund, with the final grant being calculated based on 25 per cent of eligible capital expenses.

This is one of Regina’s largest and most complex capital projects to date. The new sewage treatment plant will protect public health and the environment, improve water quality for downstream residents and businesses, and meet the needs of a growing population.

The City of Regina and EPCOR Saskatchewan Water Partners will now move to the next phase of the procurement process – contract execution and financial close – which could take up to eight weeks.

Construction will begin this year and the sewage treatment plant will meet new environmental regulations by Dec. 31, 2016.
