Canada BIM Council announces 2016 CanBIM Award Winners

The Canada BIM Council (CanBIM) held its 2nd Annual CanBIM Awards on October 5th in Toronto at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Eight award categories were presented. The awards and winners included:
Academic Award presented by Global eTraining, Anne Carpenter, Account Executive

Technology Award presented by IBI Group, Brent Mauti, Global Director, Design Technology

Trades Award presented by Mechanical Contractors Association of Canada, Al Prowse, Past President
Winners: Groupe Canam Inc. for Rogers Place Edmonton
General Contractors Award presented by Brownlee LLP, Paul Stocco, Partner
Winner: EllisDon Construction for Viva Next BRT HS East & West
Design & Engineering Award presented by Glaholt LLP Construction Lawyers, Andrea Lee, Partner
Winner: DIALOG for Edmonton ICE District Parkade
Owners Award presented by Pomerleau, Ivanka Iordanova, BIM/VDC Director
Winner: York University for Bergeron Centre for Engineering Excellence
International Award presented by Perkins + Will, William Daravong, Design Applications Manager
Winner: Ellis Don Construction, Ansam PH 1
Best In BIM presented by NEXT Architecture, R. Allan Partridge
Winner: York University for Bergeron Centre for Engineering Excellence
CanBIM also honoured R. Allan Partridge, current past president with the Inaugural CanBIM Professional Achievement Award, given to a CanBIM Member who has made a significant and meaningful contribution towards the advancement of Building Information Modeling and Virtual Design and Construction in Canada.
CanBIM also recognized Turner Fleischer Architects for achieving the milestone of the first Canadian Company to reach CanBIM Level 1 Company Certification. “We are honoured to recognize Turner Fleischer Architects with this milestone; being the first Level 1 CanBIM Certified Company, the Turner Fleischer team has set the bar in terms of dedication and commitment towards becoming BIM-enabled, we look forward to supporting their growth into BIM and working with them to change how companies view the importance of BIM” states Pietro Ferrari, CanBIM Secretary and Chair of the Research & Education Committee.
