The Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC) has reached a major milestone with the 5,000th registered project for LEED certification.

“The registration of our 5000th project is a significant milestone in the history of the CaGBC and the green building movement in Canada,” said Thomas Mueller, president and CEO of the CaGBC. “It reflects a level of progress toward our mission to transform buildings and cities with significantly lower environmental footprints and better quality of life that is heartening to everyone who has contributed to this success.”

So far this year, 103 Canadian buildings have been LEED certified, another 126 received LEED Silver, 124 achieved LEED Gold and 22 met LEED Platinum standards.

The total number of LEED certified projects in Canada now sits at 1878. A searchable LEED project database can be found at www.cagbc.org/leed/projectprofile_EN.aspx
