5 construction workers die in Ontario

November was a tragic month in the construction industry in Ontario as five workers lost their lives in various accidents.

One workplace death occurred in roadbuilding when a rolling pipe crushed a 50-year-old worker. Another was in excavating when a 59-year-old worker was struck by a pipe that rolled off a forklift. 

Another occurred in the utilities sector when a 24-year-old man was electrocuted when a vacuum excavation truck contacted an energized overhead conductor. 

The fourth death occurred when a 47-year-old worker in the multi residential sector fell from the roof of a three storey building.  The fifth fatality occurred in single family residential when a worker fell from a ladder.

There were also 10 critical injuries in the month.
